As reported in Chapter 8, the walk-through coupled with reflective dialogue is an essential component of the Downey Walk-Through process for professional development. The walk-through data-gathering process provides valid and comprehensive information and knowledge to supervisors about classroom teacher decision making, and generates possibilities for reflective conversations between teachers and supervisors, primarily principals (see Chapters 4 and 5). The juncture of these two vital elements raises curiosity as to the ultimate end result of this union—where does it lead? The obvious answer is that it ought to promulgate the culture and character of a professional learning community.
