Culture has increasingly become a lens through which members of society are asked to view experiences, work, education, and themselves. Although culture has always been present in all aspects of our lives, it is not always consciously identified or applied (Fried, 1995). The acknowledgment and use of culture as a lens for examining the dynamics of organizational and societal behaviors radically transforms basic epistemological assumptions about organizations and society. Using this lens creates a clearer awareness and understanding of underlying assumptions and cultural values (Carter, 1995).
