We know that high quality professional learning can play a significant role in advancing student achievement. This book is aimed at school board members with a desire to deepen their understanding of professional learning as a means to improving their decision making and, ultimately, improving outcomes for educators and their students. Each chapter focuses on a critical decision point that boards frequently encounter. A Story
Marilyn Friedman is a newly elected school board member. As a parent and former teacher in the school system, she is excited to serve the system in this new role. She looks forward to bringing the perspective of a professional educator to the board. Following her departure from the classroom, she spent several years as a curriculum specialist, and she later left the school system to join a private consulting firm that is helping school systems implement new standards.
