Mike Reed has assembled a ‘big book’ that offers something different to the numerous core textbooks offering factual content already on the market. By meeting the lecturer's need for a text that shows students how to think, read, reflect and write critically, his proposed new Core text would have the USP of being a critical course companion.
Professional Roles and Responsibilities
Early Education Practitioners are actively encouraged to explore and develop their role. They are now required to, respond to individual family needs and have a wide knowledge of child development, and critically examine their own professional world. Such training allows those who may not have previously engaged in higher education to access University courses and use work-based expertise to link theory with practice, in effect starting a cycle whereby telling someone they have valuable experience and expertise makes the person want to consider the theoretical perspectives which underpin their practice.
