What are Plickers?
‘Plickers’ is yet another portmanteau word (like Instagram and Pinterest), which blends ‘paper’ and ‘clickers’. These paper clickers work like any student response system insofar as the teacher asks a question and receives an instant response. If your school has a blanket ban on mobile devices in the classroom, Plickers could be a way for you to create live formative assessment data by using only your smartphone. In a similar way to QR codes, each Plickers card displays a code that can be read by the teacher’s smartphone. Though it is generally used for quick checks on understanding, like all edtech tools it can be deployed to develop deep thinking and mastery.
