Werdegar, Kathryn M. (1936-)

Kathryn Mickle Werdegar has been a California Supreme Court justice since her appointment by Governor Pete Wilson in 1994. At the time of her appointment, she was the second woman serving on the Supreme Court bench. Her opinions have been conservative, yet she pays close attention to women's issues. Author of numerous articles, monographs, and other legal publications, Justice Werdegar is an established legal scholar.

Werdegar was educated at Wellesley College, finishing in 1955. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law for 2 years and graduated from George Washington University School of Law in 1962.
