Red Shirt, Delphine (1957-)

Delphine Red Shirt is a member of the Lakota Indian tribe and is the best-known writer from that particular group. Her ability to bring out the cultural heritage and beliefs of her people enable readers to glance into the life of a Lakota Indian. Her best known work is Bead on an Anthill: A Lakota Childhood. In this work, she cleverly mixes Lakota language with English to bring out the greatest and most authentic representation of the Lakota way of life.
