Mcgladrey, Donna Joy (1935–1959)

Donna Joy McGladrey and her twin Dorothy were born to Rev. Leslie David and Verna McGladrey on April 19, 1935, in Mora, Minnesota. Together with their older sister, Joan, the twins grew up in Methodist parsonages throughout Minnesota and Illinois. They participated in Methodist Youth Fellowship, sang in choirs, helped clean the church, and tabulated offerings. Even though they always had a home, the family suffered with the rest of the nation during the Depression. The girls acquired clothing as hand-me-downs, from church rummage sales, or they made their own.
