The statistical data for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is not reliable because there was no census after 1991. Nevertheless, the relevant United Nations agencies have some projected data. According to these data, there are approximately 3.8 million people living in BiH, half of which are women, out of which 35 percent are employed. Even though there are a greater number of educated women than educated men (20 percent of women compared to 17 percent men have attended higher educational institutions), they earn 20 to 50 percent less than men.
