Christie Ann Hefner was born November 8, 1952, in Willmette, Illinois, to Mildred Williams and Hugh Hefner, an Army veteran and then copywriter for Esquire magazine. Only one year after his daughter's birth, Hugh Hefner quit his job over a pay dispute, borrowed $8,000 from more than 45 investors, and began a men's adult magazine named, simply, Playboy. More than 30 years later, Christie Hefner would take over Playboy Enterprises as her father's heir apparent.
