Robbery

Robbery is the taking or attempted taking of anything of value from the care, custody, or control of a person by force or threat of force. In addition to the element of larceny (taking the property of another with the intent to permanently deprive the person of ownership), robbery includes two other elements: The property must be taken from the person or in the person's presence, and force or the threat of immediate force must be used in the taking. Though robbery is a crime motivated by the desire to obtain money or goods, because it involves the use of force, it is generally classified as a violent offense.
