The Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions (NBTC) Holland Marketing is responsible for promoting the Netherlands as a tourist destination for pleasure and business travel. Encouraging tourism to various regions is one of the bureau’s policy goals in order to prevent certain areas from becoming too crowded. Amsterdam, for example, decided in 2016 to restrict city marketing for this reason.
