Tourism is one of the United Kingdom’s biggest industries along with finance, chemicals, retail, manufacturing, and construction, and it has the potential to become an even more important part of the United Kingdom’s economy in coming years. According to the Tourism Alliance, in 2015, the United Kingdom was the eighth-largest international tourism destination in the world ranked by visitor numbers. This “underlines the tourism industry’s substantial contribution to UK economic prosperity” (para. 1).
