The Historic Houses Association (HHA) was established in 1973 to campaign on behalf of, and offer assistance to, private owners of historic properties in the United Kingdom. The HHA has become a prominent voice in heritage advocacy and property management in the decades since its founding. Its membership now includes 1,570 historic houses, gardens, and castles throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. All are in private or charitable ownership. Of these, approximately 500 properties are open regularly to the public, and 1,000 are accessible upon request. HHA member properties have a documented 13 million to 14 million visitors annually.
