Georgia

Georgia (capital: Tbilisi), a country that covers a territory of 69,700 square kilometers (43,309 mi2) in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, is located between western Asia and eastern Europe. It is bounded by Russia to the north, Turkey and Armenia to the south, Azerbaijan to the southeast, and the Black Sea to the west. The country has been through multiple political transformations, the peak of which occurred during the reign of King David IV and Queen Tamar in the 11th and 12th centuries, and several occupations by Soviet Russia in the 19th and 20th centuries.
