Food is defined as a source of sustenance and nutrition to maintain the body when consumed, and beverage is defined as liquid food or refreshment. The food service segment is a major part of the hospitality industry and contributes billions of dollars of revenue to the economy. Food and beverage operations are diverse and varied. The food service industry can be divided into two basic categories, commercial and noncommercial.
