Croatia is a European state geographically positioned between Central and Southeast Europe. It has a population of about 4.2 million and is divided into 21 counties. The tourism industry is one of its most important economic activities. Its unspoiled nature, beautiful beaches, rich natural and cultural heritage, and way of life are its main tourism attractions. Much of the country’s land is protected, including its eight national parks. In 2013, over 12.4 million tourists visited Croatia, representing 64.8 million overnight stays. Revenue from foreign tourism in Croatia in 2013 totaled about 7 billion euros.
