Bus Travel, North and South America
Buses provide an economical way of transporting many passengers from point to point and serve areas not otherwise accessible by passenger train or airline. For this reason, bus travel has always played a significant role for travel within North and South America. The Mack brothers manufactured the first motorized bus in North America for a sightseeing concessionaire operating in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Bus travel in North and South America includes local sightseeing tours, long-distance travel from city to city along fixed routes (intercity bus), chartered motor coaches, and local transportation (such as public transit and airport shuttles).
