Buses provide an economical way of transporting many passengers from point to point and serve areas not otherwise accessible by passenger train or airline. The Mack brothers manufactured the first motorized bus in North America for a sightseeing concessionaire operating in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Bus travel in North and South America includes local sightseeing tours, long-distance travel from city to city along fixed routes (intercity bus), chartered motor coaches, and local transportation (such as public transit and airport shuttles).
