Bermuda, comprising approximately 140 islands, is a part of the British Overseas Territories. Seven islands are large enough to provide a principal landmass of 20.5 square miles (53.2 km2). These islands are located about 570 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and 774 miles southeast of New York. The islands lie at approximately 33° north latitude and 64° west longitude atop the coral atoll. Bermuda is accessible by air in about 2 hours from Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C., and in less than 7 hours from London.
