Argentina is located in the southern part of South America. It covers an area of 3.8 million square kilometers, of which 2.8 million square kilometers belongs to the continent and the rest being in Antarctica. Its name, which originated in the 14th century with the arrival of the first conquerors, comes from the Latin word argentum, which means silver.

Tourism in Argentina is a state policy. The country has a strategic plan for tourism development with important goals by 2020. Argentina tourism is organized in six regions, characterized by its variety of landscapes and cultural attractions: Cuyo, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, Litoral, Norte, and Patagonia.
