Trinidad and Tobago is a country comprised of two islands, the larger land mass of Trinidad and the smaller area of Tobago, located in the southern Caribbean. Contrary to other countries in the region, tourism has historically made up a small percentage of the nation’s economy due to a robust energy sector. The majority of visitors to the country have been business tourists to Trinidad along with a lesser number of visitors to Tobago to experience beach tourism. In order to expand and diversify its economy, the country has recently focused on developing its tourism industry and has implemented a number of policies to accomplish growth in the sector.
