It is essential that travelers become familiar with travel laws and regulations while making trip preparations in order to be prepared for potential issues that may occur before, during, and after traveling. The national and international laws and regulations that pertain to travel and tourism involve, among other things, contracts, matters of employment, tourism and hospitality procedures, antitrust rules, regulatory and agency compliance, and certain international treaties. In the United States, the issues covered by travel law include permits for sellers of travel, compensation for lost or damaged luggage, and airfare advertising.
