Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago is a twin-island country, forming the official Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the southernmost region of the Caribbean. Sharing maritime borders with Barbados, Venezuela, and Guyana, it is a center of economic activity for the Caribbean. With primary exports of oil and gas, Trinidad and Tobago ranks 69th of the wealthiest countries of the world. However, issues such as crime, drugs, and corruption run rampant, with unemployment resulting from a misallocation of jobs in the oil and gas industries. Poverty rates hover around 21 percent, while one in every 10 people are considered unable to meet their basic needs.
