Togo is a long, thin country on the Bight of Benin, located on the west coast of Africa, bordering Ghana on its west, Benin on its east, and Burkina Faso on its north. Togo is slightly smaller in size relative to the state of West Virginia, and has a population of over 7 million, growing at a rate of 2.7 percent. Togo’s climate varies from tropical and humid in its south, to semiarid in its north, with the north vulnerable to food crisis from a lack of arable land, and the south prone to floods.
