Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity

Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity is a clearinghouse of resources, research advocacy, and policy regarding poverty in the United States. Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity was launched in October 2007 by major U.S. foundations to foster nonpartisan debate about policy approaches for addressing poverty and opportunity during the 2008 campaign season. Since its launch in 2007, approximately 25 major foundations have provided support, and the number of foundations offering support continues to increase. Some of the major foundations that support Spotlight are the American Association of Retired Persons, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Kaiser Foundation.
