In many low-income countries, the national poverty reduction strategy is embodied in a Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP), used as a basis for programs with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. These documents are updated every three years and provide a three-year or longer framework in terms of macroeconomic and social policies to promote economic growth and poverty reduction.
