National Education Association

The National Education Association (NEA) is a professional organization of public school teachers and staffers based in the United States. This organization, with headquarters in Washington, D.C., represents the rights of retired education personnel, college and university teachers and students, and teacher training students. With some 3.2 million members, it also works in partnership with the American Federation of Teachers and thus has become the largest labor union in the United States. The present-day NEA is a result of a merger of three associations, namely the National Teachers Association (NTA), the American Normal School Association, and the National Association of School Superintendents. More than 14,000 communities across the nation are affiliated with NEA, and it employs around 600 staff members for its operations.
