Hungary

Hungary is a central European country composed of many ethnic groups, including Hungarians, Germans, Romani, Slovaks, Romanians, and Croats. The Hungarian census of 2011 shows that 83.7 percent of the national population, or 8,314,029, is Hungarian; 3.1 percent, or 308,957, are Romani; 1.3 percent, or 131,951, are German; and 0.3 percent, or 29,647, are Slovaks. Among the other 26,345, 0.3 percent are Romanian, and 23,561, or 0.2 percent, are Croatian. The borders of Hungary touch Slovakia in the north, Ukraine and Romania in the east, Serbia and Croatia in the south, Slovenia to the southwest, and Austria to the west. This is a landlocked country situated in the Carpathian Basin. Its official language is Hungarian, and Budapest is the capital and the biggest city.
