Girl Effect Dividend, The

The Girl Effect Dividend is a term used to describe the benefits of investing in adolescent girls, based on the Girl Effect campaign launched in 2008. Initially created by the Nike Foundation, the Girl Effect looks at the 250 million adolescent girls currently living in poverty, and the change that would occur in society if they were to receive better education, health care, and opportunities. A series of short video clips has been used to visually spearhead the campaign, which went viral and harnessed public support for the cause. The movement was founded with support from the NoVo Foundation, United Nations Foundation, and the Coalition for Adolescent Girls.
