Gender and Food Security

Food security is a multifaceted concept, defined many different ways. Prominent definitions include conceptualization of food security as the degree of access to adequate food to lead healthy and active lives. It is also seen as the capacity to exercise agency in accessing sufficient quantity and quality of food to ensure adequate dietary intake and a healthy life in a sustainable manner. In addition, food security is defined as a transitory process influenced by the ability to access/obtain sufficient food.
