Food Shortages

According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), food insecurity is a major global concern today, as 1 billion people are suffering from starvation, undernutrition, and malnutrition. The United Nations also estimates that about 21,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes. This equates to one person every four seconds; sadly, it is children who die most often. About 75 percent of African countries are at high or extreme risk of unrest and famine stemming from food shortages and rising prices.
