Education Theories

Education theory is a collective term that includes deliberations on evaluating and prescribing practices with a focus on the general concept of education. Issues like philosophy and purpose of education, curriculum formation, pedagogy, learning, policies, practices, and educational technologies form the contexts for different educational theories. Educational theories also focus on educational organization and the relationship of education with other indicators of human development and civilization. Sociology, history, psychology, philosophy, and management of education are also addressed in educational theories.

Broadly speaking, educational theories can be divided into three categories: educational thoughts, normative theories, and descriptive theories.
