Child Mortality

Child survival against poverty is a major issue in the millennium. The importance of the survival of children for the future of a race is the reason for the global community’s concern about child mortality. Child survival becomes worrisome as a result of the global financial meltdown as many families were thrown back to poverty. In general, child mortality is the assessment of the mortality rate of children under five years of age. The global acronym for understanding child survival is ‘‘U5MR,’’ or simply the child mortality rate. Child mortality is calculated as the number of children who die by the age of five years out of every 1,000 live births.
