Bioversity International

Bioversity International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to agricultural research and the use of more sustainable farming techniques. The organization is a part of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), which aims to reduce poverty and improve food security. Bioversity International provides scientific evidence to support practices that protect agricultural biodiversity throughout the world. It partners with low-income nations to help implement agricultural management techniques that farmers can use to not only increase crop yields, but also improve both the nutritive quality of the crops and their resistance to infectious pests. The organization’s 150 scientists from 16 countries assist farmers in central, southern, and Southeast Asia; the Caribbean; sub-Saharan Africa; and Latin America.
