Agriculture or farming is the cultivation of animals, plants, and other life forms for food and biofuels to sustain and advance human life. Agriculture entails the production of crops and raising livestock that can be directly consumed as food by the end consumer, or processed by food processing industries. It also entails raising crops such as corn, oil seeds, and sugarcane that are used in agro food industries to derive fats, oils, and sugars. Nonfood crops such as rubber, resins, fibers, and other natural plant products and forest products are also cultivated for a variety of uses by industries.
