Adult Literacy Programs

Adult literacy is the most powerful tool that can be used to empower a people and change the world. Literacy is a fundamental human right and a core component of the right to education, as recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and as outlined in the Educational for All Goals by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). There is an association between adult illiteracy and poor life outcomes, such as poverty, poor health, social exclusion, and high levels of crime, in a globalized and digitally oriented technological world.
