World Social Forum

The World Social Forum (WSF) is an annual meeting of social justice activists and allied individuals and groups that seek to create a counterforce to the international power imbalances embodied in neoliberal economic globalization. The WSF acts as a global meeting of key players in international civil society including formal nongovernmental organizations, rights-based campaign representatives, grassroots activists, and diverse social movements such as those opposed to sweatshop labor, or others in favor of third world debt relief. The physical meeting site of the WSF serves as a centralized, temporary, organizing space for resource sharing, logistical coordination, membership cross-pollination, social network expansion, and other essential tasks for continuing and furthering social movements and civil society activism.
