Hungary

Hungary (Hungarian: Magyarország) is a landlocked country in central Europe. The capital is Budapest (built by the Celts, 1 BCE; the original city was founded in 1878 as a result of unification of Óbuda and Buda on the west bank of the Danube and Pest on the east bank). The population is 9,933,000 (2015 estimate). The country is a parliamentary republic. Its area is nearly 36,000 sq m, and the Danube forms much of its northern border with the Slovak Republic before turning south and bisecting Hungary. To the west of the Danube is the Great Hungarian Plain. In the northeast, the country borders Ukraine and Romania; on the south, Serbia and Croatia; and in the west, Slovenia and Austria.
