Ghana

Ghana has experienced a long, tumultuous history that spans elaborate tribal kingdoms, a devastating slave trade, territorial consolidation under British colonialism, anticolonial struggle, and final political independence. Located in western Africa, along the Gulf of Guinea and between Côte d’Ivoire and Togo, the country enjoys significant natural resources, including bauxite, timber, cocoa, hydropower, gold, silver, and limestone. A small petroleum sector also exists with potential for future growth and development. Ghana’s economy often experiences precipitous downturns and high inflation, particularly when commodity prices drop, although the social infrastructure, including the public health and education sectors, remains fairly resilient.
