Estonia

Estonia (Eesti Vabariik) is a country on the Baltic Sea (Baltoscandia, as a part of Northern European geopolitical map); its capital is Tallinn (population 439,569 in 2015). Estonia is a parliamentary republic, and since May 2004, is a member of the European Union. Its area is 17,460 square miles and is bordered on the north by the Gulf of Finland, on the east by the Russian Federation, on the south by Latvia, and on the west by the Baltic Sea. According to Statistics Estonia, the estimated population of Estonia as of January 2016 was 1,311,800, including nearly 70% ethnic Estonians and a little more than 25% ethnic Russians. The Estonian language belongs to the Baltic-Finnish branch of the Finno-Ugric languages of the Uralic language family.
