Armenia

Armenia is a democratic nation-state with an area of over 11,000 square miles, located in the Caucasian region of Eurasia. It is bordered by Iran to the south, Turkey to the west, Georgia to the north, and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and Azerbaijan to the east.

Historic Armenia emerged on the banks of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers after centuries of cultural fusion among disparate cultures resulted in the formation of the Kingdom of Urata under King Aramu, 870 bce. After the Armenian kingdom in Cilicia toppled in 1375, Western Armenia was ruled by the Ottomans, while the Eastern portion was controlled initially by Persia, then by Russia.
