Tanzania

The United Republic of Tanzania, located on the eastern coast of Africa, is bordered by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, and Mozambique and has a 500-mile coastline with the Indian Ocean. The country also includes several offshore islands, including Zanzibar, Pemba, and Mafia. The official capital is Dodoma, where the president’s office and National Assembly are located. The remainder of the government offices are in Dar es Salaam, the former capital and Tanzania’s largest city, main port, and principal commercial center.

Tanzania is an independent member of the Commonwealth of Nations, established in its present form on April 26, 1964, through the union of the Republic of Tanganyika (independent in 1961) and the People’s Republic of Zanzibar (independent in 1963). ...
