Srebrenica

Srebrenica is a town and municipality located in the Republic of Srpska in southeastern Europe; the Republic of Srpska is one of two autonomous political entities, along with the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, of the nation-state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Srebrenica is located in the eastern part of this country near the border with the Republic of Serbia. It was the site of a war atrocity that took place in 1995 during the Bosnian War (1992–1995). Around 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were massacred by Bosnian Serb military units, leading many to refer to this event as genocide.
