Revenge

Revenge or vengeance refers to the act of inflicting harm on others following a perceived offense or harm. Feelings of revenge are universal; that is, they occur in all cultures. They are a natural human response to being humiliated, wronged, or offended by others. Acts of revenge may also result from the transgression or violation of societal norms by others. The search for revenge and retribution, or restitution for the offense inflicted, is capable of driving individuals and nations to wreak damage on others. To repair the feelings of shame in the wake of an offense, people and nations have done irreparable damage to others.
