Lithuania

Lithuania (Lietuva) is a country on the Baltic Sea (Baltoscandia, as part of northern European geopolitical map); its capital is Vilnius (population 542,664 in 2015). Lithuania is a unitary parliamentary republic, and since May 2004, it has been a member of the European Union. Its area is 25,210 square miles, located along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea, to the east of Sweden and Denmark; it borders Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east and south, Poland to the south, and Kaliningrad Oblast (an exclave of the Russian Federation) to the southwest.
