Kosovo

Former autonomous province within the Republic of Serbia, and contemporary self-proclaimed and partly recognized independent state, Kosovo is situated in the middle of southeastern Europe. The Kosovo territory covers an area of 10,908 square kilometers, and its population is 1.8 million (2014 estimate). Its capital is Pristina.

Kosovo became the arena of the key battle in the history of the medieval Balkans and of the recent war and military intervention of a new type.
