Trans Studies, also known as Transgender Studies, is an interdisciplinary field that approaches the study of sex, gender identity, gender expression, gender stereotyping, and the social constructions of gender in historic and contemporary contexts. Through intersectional approaches, Trans Studies considers the complexity of sex assigned at birth and the social constructions of gender within the contexts and constructs of race, ethnicity, socioeconomics, national identity, global location, physical and mental (dis)ability, decolonial recovery, and religion, as well as other identities.
