Trans Men

Trans men are people who were designated female at birth but who identify and often live their lives as men. Their existence cuts across boundaries of nationality, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic class. Historical records from the late 19th and early 20th centuries indicate that men who had been assigned female lived exemplary male lives without their birth status being known until their deaths or some mishap. However, even if their sex assignment was discovered during their lives, most trans men continued living as men. When hormones and gender-affirming surgeries became available by the mid-20th century, many trans men who could afford these procedures changed their physical sex to align with their gendered selves.
