Philosophy of Mind
Philosophy of mind is a branch of philosophy concerned with the nature of mental events and processes. Inquiries into philosophy of mind can be traced back to ancient Greece, whereas interest in the nature of the mind can be found in many of the world’s religions. Contemporary philosophy of mind is largely an interdisciplinary effort. Many contemporary philosophers of mind draw from work in computer science, neuroscience, psychology, biology, sociology, physics, and chemistry. However, a growing number of contemporary philosophers of mind have begun to borrow insights into the mental from other branches of philosophy such as phenomenology, existentialism, pragmatism, and postmodernism.
