Health Care Science
Health care science is an interdisciplinary field of applied sciences that explores how technology, science, communication, mathematics, and engineering shape, affect, and influence health care delivery. Health care science encompasses:
- The use of theory in the sciences and humanities to advance health care so as to improve health outcomes and quality of life for patients and communities;
- Models of health care delivery such as the biomedical and biopsychosocial models, as well as patient-centered communication and culturally competent communication models;
- Social and cultural determinants of health;
- The role of eHealth and technology in improving patient health outcomes and relationships with health care providers;
- Medical and social sciences that health care professionals use to advance health care;
- Scientists working on finding new treatments and cures for a variety of health issues; and
